Magnolia Inn

At the corner of Magnolia and Chinquapin streets, in the heart of historic Pinehurst, stands the elegant Magnolia Inn. Graceful longleaf pines and fragrant magnolias surround this stately 107 year old Inn. It's an easy stroll to the village, where you can find a variety of shops, restaurants and galleries. Or you can take a horse drawn carriage and tour the winding streets of this quaint New England-style village.

Our area has been host for several Tour Championships, The Senior US OPEN, The US Women's OPEN, The 1999 US OPEN, and now The 2005 US OPEN. It was in 1895 that James Tufts purchased the land on which the Village of Pinehurst and the Magnolia Inn sit today. In 1991, the Inn was purchased by Ned and Jan Darby and has been completely renovated and carefully restored to reflect the elegance of the Victorian era and the cozy atmosphere of the Old South. All 11 guest rooms have private baths, cable TV and central air. Polished brass, white wicker, and the abundance of period antiques reflecting the charm of this bygone era make staying at the Magnolia Inn a memorable experience. You can step in to the cozy hardwood halls of the Magnolia's own English style pub for an evening of fun and a casual dinner, or dine outside, poolside, or on the front porch. Private dining rooms are also available.

The small staff of the Magnolia Inn is an integral part of its charm and success. This diverse group includes the personable manager Maggie Sanger, and we would be remiss if we did not mention Miss Lucy. On the Inn's staff since before the Darby's took over, her down-home breakfasts are unmatched and unforgettable. At 83, her abundance of energy and contagious good cheer add to the welcoming warmth of the Magnolia Inn.

The Magnolia Inn offers a variety of options for its visitors. For the vacationing golfer, there are over 45 golf courses in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area, and most have pre-arranged privileges and golf packages for the Magnolia Inn guests.
